Common Issues When Setting Up AutoRank

Common Issues, Questions & Solutions: At AutoRank, we want your listings to perform at their peak. If you run into a hiccup during setup, follow our quick troubleshooting guide below to get back on track.

1. Property Management System (PMS) Disconnection

Tell-tale Signs:

  • Updates made in AutoRank aren’t showing up on Airbnb.

  • Manual sync attempts fail or display an error message.

  • Your PMS isn’t logging recent updates from AutoRank.

How to Check:

  • Sync Test: Initiate a manual sync on one of your listings in AutoRank.
  • Error Alert: If the sync fails, you’ll see an error indicating a PMS connection issue (keep an eye on the top right of the page).
  • PMS Verification: Log into your PMS to see if recent updates from AutoRank have been recorded. Depending on your PMS this can be stored in different areas under the listing you are testing. 

How to Resolve:

  • Reconnect: Reconnect your PMS to AutoRank by following the integration steps.
  • Need Help? If the issue persists, contact our support team to review your connection logs.

2. Airbnb Settings Are Blocking Content Updates

Tell-tale Signs:

  • Updated content appears in your PMS but not on Airbnb.
  • Specific listing details remain unchanged despite successful syncs.

How to Check:

  • Content Review: Confirm that the updated content is correctly displayed in your PMS.

  • Airbnb Settings: Navigate to the listing in question in the Airbnb hosting dashboard and check for any content blocks.


How to Resolve:

  • Adjust Settings: Remove any content restrictions in Airbnb’s Property Management settings.
  • Manual Fix: If restrictions continue, reach out to Airbnb support.

3. Guesty Custom Channel Settings Preventing Updates

Tell-tale Signs:

  • Listing updates show up in Guesty but don’t reflect on Airbnb.
  • Airbnb is missing from your channel update list in Guesty.

How to Check:

  • Channel Audit: Open Guesty and inspect the channel configuration for your listings.
  • Verify Inclusion: Ensure that Airbnb is included in the channels receiving updates.

How to Resolve:

  • Reconfigure: Add Airbnb back to the default update list in Guesty.
  • On the Horizon: We’re actively working on a long-term solution with Guesty to target Airbnb directly via the API.

4. Hostaway Legacy System Blocking Updates

Tell-tale Signs:

  • Property updates are visible in AutoRank and Hostaway but aren’t syncing to Airbnb.
  • Older Hostaway accounts (over two years old) may experience this issue.

How to Check:

  • Support Check: Contact Hostaway support to confirm if your account needs an update.
  • Sync Settings: Verify that your content sync settings are properly enabled in Hostaway.

How to Resolve:

  • Help Desk Ticket: Submit a help desk ticket to Hostaway, specifying that your content sync settings need updating.
  • Assistance Available: The AutoRank team is here to help with any request details needed for a smooth resolution.

5. Guesty Direct Website Integration Causing URL Issues

Tell-tale Signs:

  • Internal links on your property manager’s website break after title updates.
  • Listings using dynamic URLs tied to the property title aren’t functioning properly.

How to Check:

  • Website Query: Ask your property manager if the website URLs are automatically linked to listing titles.
  • Monitor URLs: If the URLs change automatically with title updates, this is likely the root of the issue.

How to Resolve:

  • Disable Updates: Turn off AutoRank’s automatic title updates for the affected listings.
  • Long-term Fix: We’re working closely with Guesty to develop a permanent solution for these URL issues.
